Personality:

Dogo is a sweet, innocent, playful jackal pup who seemingly has a knack for getting into trouble.

At least, that's how he appears on the outside. Underneath that sweet face and wagging tail is a whole lot of deception and trickery. Dogo appears innocent on the outside, but it's usually to fool others into getting what he wants. When the Lion Guard rescues Dogo from a hyena attack in the Outlands, they're quickly won over by Dogo's childlike innocence and eagerness to visit the Pride Lands so that he can feel safe. When they ask about his family, he sadly tells them that he's all alone. They hesitantly agree to take him with them since Dogo is just one jackal pup. Dogo lets out a joyful yipping sound, a signal meant for the rest of his jackal family to follow him into the Pridelands.

Once Dogo is dropped off by the Lion Guard, and the rest of his family meet up with him in the Pridelands, they start to show their true nature - as thieves. Dogo's family lives by the rule of charming animals with their sweet, kind nature, and then taking advantage of them. Either by eating them or taking their things. Dogo is no different, behaving like a sweet, naive child in order to trick other animals. For example, while trying to chase a baby zebra with his sister, he tries to trick the zebra into thinking they're going to play a friendly game of tag, so that he and his sister can corner the zebra and eat him.

While Dogo's loyalty is strictly to his family, he has an especially strong desire to please his mother and make her proud. He does what she asks without questioning it too much or showing much resistance, even if what they're doing is clearly wrong. He seeks out her approval, such as when he tells her that he "really fooled the Lion Guard" when the Lion Guard brings Dogo into the Pridelands, as if he's waiting for her praise of him. Most of Dogo's deceit and trickery isn't usually to benefit himself, but to benefit the rest of his family. Such as sneaking them into the Pridelands, or to successfully hunt down a zebra with the technique his mother taught him.

While Dogo's obedience to his mom always comes first, he's surprisingly not much of a rule-breaker. He tends to be more of a follower than a leader, going along with whatever he's told to do without much question. When the Lion Guard leave him on a hilltop, Dogo stays in that spot. And when his mother questions why he's just sitting on a hill, Dogo tells her the Lion Guard told him he could stay there. He doesn't show much desire to take charge himself, or make his own decisions.

Despite the fake act that Dogo puts on, he still lets his real emotions get the better of him. When his tail gets stomped on, his immediate reaction is to turn and growl at the offending animal. His mother is quick to correct him, and tells him that he should try gaining their trust instead. And even with his mother corrects him, he still pouts when she stops him from going after the animal that stepped on him. When the baby zebra he was chasing starts to question the game of "tag" that they're playing, Dogo drops the friendly act and tells the zebra that it's "the last game he'll ever play". As much as he tries to put on a fake personality, Dogo is still an impulsive child who hasn't quite mastered the jackal family's technique of "fake niceness".
